Backup and Restore your data

If you want to transfer your generators or fields to a different browser, or you simply want to make a backup of everything that you've been working on inside Fake Data, you can easily do this by following along.

Creating a backup file

  • Open Fake Data's options page.
  • Go to Settings -> Backup & Restore.
  • Click on Backup Data.
  • On the newly opened popup you can choose which elements you want to back up.
  • Click on the green "Backup" button.

That's it! A backup file should be downloaded and you can import it on any other browser that is using Fake Data extension.

Restoring from a backup file

  • Open Fake Data's options page.
  • Go to Settings -> Backup & Restore.
  • Click on Restore Data.
  • On the newly opened popup, choose the backup file that was downloaded from a previous backup.
  • Next, choose which data you want to restore from the selected backup.
  • Click on the green "Restore" button.

WARNING

When restoring a backup, make sure to pay attention on the overwrite options. If you choose to overwrite any of the data that you have, that data will be lost and will be replaced with data from the backup file.
