Configure Keyboard Shortcuts
There are multiple configurable keyboard shortcuts available to use in order to interact with the Fake Data extension. Below we'll explore how to configure them for each browser.
Default shortcuts
By default, there are two keyboard shortcuts preconfigured in Fake Data:

If you want to change these shortcuts, you can do the steps described below.
- Open Fake Data's options page.
- Go to Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Under
Main shortcuts
there are two sections. One for filling a single field and one for filling an entire form at once. - Start pressing the new key combination that you want use, and then double click on one of the two shortcuts that you want to change.
- Press Save.

The two main shortcuts must always be triggered with a double click on the input field while holding down the key combination.
Configure additional keyboard shortcuts for predefined actions
The second set of keyboard shortcuts that you can configure for Fake Data can be used to perform one of the following actions:
- Fill the active field
- Fill the active form
- Fill the entire page at once
- Manage the current active field
Unlike the Default Shortcuts, these additional ones are configured through your browser's extension settings and they do not require any mouse interaction to trigger them.
Here is how to configure these for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
Update keyboard shortcuts in Google Chrome
- Open the following URL in your Google Chrome browser:
chrome://extensions/shortcuts
- Navigate to Fake Data extension
- Press the edit button next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
Update keyboard shortcuts in Mozilla Firefox
- Open the following URL in your Mozilla Firefox browser:
about:addons
- Click on the cog icon above the extensions list
- Click on "Manage Extension shortcuts"
- Click on the field next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
Update keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Edge
- Open the following URL in your Microsoft Edge browser:
edge://extensions/shortcuts
- Navigate to Fake Data extension
- Click on the field next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
Configure 10 additional custom shortcuts with custom actions
The third set of shortcuts are similar to the extension shortcuts with predefined actions describe above, but these 10 customisable shortcuts can trigger whichever action you configure it. You can assign 10 different keyboard shortcuts for any of the following actions:
- Open Options Page
- Open SpamBox page
- Manage active field
- Fill active field
- Fill active form
- Fill entire page
- Fill active field with a specific Generator
Here is how to configure these 10 additional shortcuts:
- Open Fake Data's options page.
- Go to Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Scroll down to "Custom shortcuts" section.
- There are listed 10 customisable actions that can be configured through a dropdown next to each other.
- Click on the dropdown menu next to the action you want change, and select the desired option
- If you choose the "Fill active field with a specific Generator" action, another dropdown will show up where you can choose the Generator to use.
- Press Save
- Next you need to assign a keyboard shortcut to the action you just selected. In order to do that please follow the next steps depending on which browser you use:
Google Chrome
- Open the following URL in your Google Chrome browser:

- Navigate to Fake Data extension
- Find the action you edited, named "Custom shortcut #<number>"
- Press the edit button next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the following URL in your Mozilla Firefox browser:
about:addons
- Click on the cog icon above the extensions list
- Click on "Manage Extension shortcuts"
- Find the action you edited, named "Custom shortcut #<number>" (you might need to click on "Show more" button if you can't see all the actions)
- Click on the field next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
Microsoft Edge
- Open the following URL in your Microsoft Edge browser:

- Navigate to Fake Data extension
- Find the action you edited, named "Custom shortcut #<number>"
- Click on the field next to the shortcut you want to modify
- Press the key combination you want to use
